Badass Future, Episode 2

By now you may be asking yourself; could anything be more badass than last week’s episode of Badass Future? Yes. Episode 2.

This Week: Episode 2: Detour

As Killman fights it out with the Perpcatcher a mysterious force brings the world to the brink of nuclear annihilation.

Next Week: Episode 3: Post-Apocalyptic is the New Rich

Nuclear war has caused the future to become immeasurably more badass. Amid the smoking irradiated ruins of the once great City, the remaining agents of the DHR round up survivors for a slave-army to combat the Marketing Administration’s robot kill squads, under the command of the mysterious Number Four. But while Marketing has the DHR on the ropes, Number Four has it’s own agenda. Meanwhile Killman gets some badass post-apocalyptic threads but runs low on ammo. Badass Future, Episode 1

Before the jump there are a few things that need to be said about badass future.
1) I am aware that it is poorly drawn and written (where’s your comic?). This is the point. The future is badass, but it is also cheesy and somewhat repetitive. I have another motive here, besides my laziness. If it doesn’t take long to do, I may actually have time to do it.
2) The art (if you can call it that) is accomplished (and I use the word “accomplished” lightly) through the use of sharpies, little pieces of paper, a scanner, and GIMP. This process involves almost no work on my part. Evidence of this would be that the first episode (which is about 15 pages long, filler included) took about 4 hours to complete, the entirety of which I spent watching Always Sunny.
3) Badass future does not really take place in the future, or in our future, to be more specific. It is set in an alternate 2011 where the western nations are ruled by a totalitarian corporate entity that forces a system of mandatory consumerism on a sheep-afied populace. Wait a second… The result is much like communism in that most of the population spend the better part of the day waiting in lines.
4) The main character’s codename is Killman. His real name is Micheal David Killmen, an out of work truck driver with the transportation administration. Mr. Killmen was not hired back on after the last round of nationwide layoffs because of a clerical error which resulted in his identity being removed from the marketing administration’s supercomputer. In effect, he no longer exists and must now make his way as a freelance assassin. The “yellow voice” is Jimmy, Killman’s hired geek. I will address this now so I don’t have to waste valuable explosion space actually doing it in the comic. Read more

The Getting of Knowledge

I reads them. Although I do not so often romantically roam the library stacks, swooning over that mouldy book smell, I still manage to eat at least one text a week (I like to think). And by eat, I mean scribble, dogear, highlight, and generally maim every page I get my grubby fingers on. But not so recently, it has come to my attention that books can be uploaded into handy, portable, sleek, rechargeable, Star Trek-esque, and generally really cool electronic book readers.
